At first sight, the monolithic dome is not the prettiest of housing solutions but when you look into this housing system, you will discover that it offers a whole host of benefits that are lacking in most modern housing.
It is basically a big balloon. You design the size and shape you want. When the "balloon" is inflated on site, the inside is sprayed with foam, then reinforced with metal rebars, and finally sprayed with concrete.
The obvious benefit is that its well insulated structure is perfect for both cold or hot climates. But beyond that, it can withstand the fiercest winds. Such considerations may seem unnecessary at the moment, however, with changing weather conditions, this factor may soon become relevant. The domes can also withstand earthquakes and the most extreme punishment that the earth and the climate can throw at them.
The domes can be buried or partially buried without any further reinforcement or waterproofing. The only maintenance these buildings ever need is a waterproof coating every 15 years to areas exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight.
